Economic Development Grant to the Alliance

Alcorn County, Mississippi

On March, 20, 2015, TVA completed an environmental assessment (EA) and issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for a proposal economic development grant to the Alliance in Alcorn County, Mississippi. The Alliance is an economic development partnership between the City of Corinth and Alcorn County. With the grant and other funding, the Alliance proposes to conduct preliminary site preparation on approximately 42 acres of a 421-acre property owned by the Alliance. The Alliance plans to eventually develop the property for industrial and commercial uses. Site preparation includes clearing brush and trees and the construction of a preliminary access road to the cleared area. This would allow the Alliance to show the property to potential buyers and tenants.

On June 6, 2016, TVA completed a supplemental environmental assessment (SEA) and issued a FONSI for an additional proposed economic development grant to The Alliance to expand the first phase of access improvements evaluated in TVA’s March 2015 EA. The grant would fund the extension of the existing access road would also help fund a site grading and drainage study, which would be used to map the topography following completion of the access road expansion. The proposed grant to The Alliance would help expand access to the Alcorn site to increase its attractiveness to potential industrial or commercial tenants.
