Houston, Mississippi Solar Farms

Chickasaw County, Mississippi

On June 24, 2016, TVA issued a final environmental assessment (EA) and finding of no significant impact for its proposed purchase of power from the 3.9-megawatt (direct current) Houston, 3.9 MW Solar Project and the adjacent 1-megawatt Chickasaw County Solar Farm. The two facilities, occupying a total of about 21 acres, would be located near the town of Houston in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. They would be constructed and operated by Silicon Ranch Corporation and use multiple rows of fixed-tilt photovoltaic panels to generate electricity. The facilities would connect to the TVA transmission system through connections to an existing nearby Natchez Trace Electric Power Association power line.

The EA describes the anticipated environmental impacts of the construction and operation of the solar generating facilities and associated electrical connections. TVA issued a draft of the EA for public review and comment in June, 2016. The final EA addresses the comments TVA received on the draft EA.
