Purchase of Power Generated at Bristol, Virginia Sanitary Landfill

Washington County, Virginia

On May 19, 2014, TVA completed an environmental assessment (EA) and issued a finding of no significant impact for a proposed power purchase agreement for electricity generated at the City of Bristol’s Sanitary Landfill.

INGENCO Resources Development LLC (INGENCO) is planning to install eighteen landfill gas-fueled generators with a total capacity of 6.30 megawatts (MW).  INGENCO will operate twelve of the generators, with a capacity of 4.50 MW under TVA’s Renewable Standard Offer program.  The new generators would be installed on a previously disturbed area adjacent to the existing landfill facility.  The EA evaluates the potential environmental impacts of the installation and operation of the new generators and associated auxiliary systems.
