COVID UPDATE: TVA Requiring All Persons to Wear Masks Indoors Beginning July 28

Jul 28, 2021

On Tuesday evening, the federal Office of Management and Budget provided updated guidance to TVA and other federal agencies based on CDC recommendations.

As of Wednesday, July 28, TVA will begin implementing its previous COVID protocol requiring all personnel (employees, contractors and visitors) to wear face masks while indoors at a TVA facility. This includes both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals who are onsite, including contractors.

  • Wear a properly-fitted face covering to enter any TVA-owned or -leased office space or facility.
  • Indoors, wear a face covering unless you are isolated and alone in your personal workspace.
  • Wear face coverings when traveling from one workspace to another. Do not remove your face covering because a hallway or atrium appears to be empty.
  • When outdoors, if not fully vaccinated, wear a face covering unless social distancing of at least six feet is assured at all times. Carry a face covering at all times.

The restoration of the face mask requirement is in response to rising COVID infections, updated CDC guidance on masks for vaccinated individuals, and newly issued guidance for both federal buildings and federal employees and contractors.

As we implement this policy, we will be working to ensure masks are available at our facilities and will be updating our agency COVID guidance and signage. For meetings or other engagements not on TVA properties, please continue to follow local guidance.

We will provide information on this and other federal policy changes as we receive them.
