KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking for public input on what should be included in an upcoming review of potential environmental impacts from the proposed retirement of Cumberland Fossil Plant, located in Stewart County,
 Tennessee, and the construction of replacement generation.

The draft Environmental Impact Statement will consider the potential impacts associated with the proposed retirement of the two coal-fired units at Cumberland and the construction and operation of facilities to replace part of the retired generation.
 The first step of that process is to consider the scope of the study. Documents related to this proposal can be found at www.tva.com/nepa.

TVA will consider various alternatives in the EIS, including continuing to operate the fossil units, and retirement of the units with the generation replaced by natural gas or a combination of gas, solar and storage facilities, either on the same location
 or an alternate site. Related actions, such as a natural gas pipeline and transmission upgrades, will also be considered in this assessment.

Written comments on the scope of the EIS will be accepted through June 10, 2021. Comments can be submitted online at www.tva.com/nepa, or by email to nepa@tva.gov. Comments received, including names and addresses, will become part of the project administrative
 record and will be available for public inspection.
