TVA Proposes Transmission Project in Columbia, Tennessee

COLUMBIA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Authority has posted information online about proposed transmission system improvements that would provide power for growing industrial load and increase power reliability in Columbia, Tennessee.

Fiberon will establish a manufacturing and distribution facility in Columbia, potentially creating over 300 new jobs over the next several years. Fiberon’s new facility will require a  new 161-kilovolt substation and TVA proposes to invest about $4 million to build a transmission line to the new substation. This project would use about 1 mile of existing right of way, and a total of about 1.5 miles of new right of way.

The public should visit TVA’s website,tvavirtual.com/fiberon,  from Thursday, March 23 through Monday, April 24, 2023, to review the project and submit questions. Detailed maps and photos showing the proposed transmission line are available at tva.com/transmissionprojects

TVA is investing $2.8 billion in transmission system improvements across its service area through 2027, to build the energy grid of the future that will continue to provide, clean, low-cost, reliable power.
