Amy Rossi

Senior Manager of Coal and Gas Generation Contracts | Chattanooga, Tenn.

For most people, it’s hard to get excited about ideas like “contract management” and “materials sourcing.”

Not so with Amy Rossi, Senior Manager of Coal and Gas Generation Contracts in the Sourcing Group at TVA. She is not only engaged, but absolutely passionate about her work.

“Bring up contracts and sourcing, and you’re likely to get some blank looks and maybe even a yawn or two,” she laughs. “But I love it.”

Rossi says every day brings new challenges—from collaborating with internal customers to building relationships with the diverse businesses that supply materials and services to TVA, negotiating deals and developing legal contracts.

“There’s always something new to learn,” she says.

The importance of her work also fuels Rossi’s passion. “The work we do in Sourcing—our ability to obtain the best materials and services on time and at the most competitive price—has a direct impact on the reliability of our fleet and the cost of the power we provide to our customers.”

Always, Rossi keeps her eye on TVA’s mission of service. “As TVA employees, my team supports the three E’s: energy, environment and economic development,” she explains. “But we also try to keep a sharp focus on three more E’s: efficiency, effectiveness and exceeding expectations.”

That Rossi certainly does, rarely missing a day of work. She’s inspired to excel by the story of her dad. He was captured in World War II and was one of thousands of prisoners who were forced to walk hundreds of miles across Germany. Many American POWs were shot or died of illness and exhaustion during these infamous ‘death marches.’

“Dad felt like he was given a second chance in life when he made it home,” recalls Rossi. “He saw things differently after that. He treasured time spent with family and friends and appreciated the opportunity to get up and go to work in the morning. He never took a sick day and instilled the same work ethic in me.”

The love of family is there for her, too. She is married to Kent Rossi, a Quality Control Inspector at Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. They have two boys, seven-year-old Nicholas and four-year-old Drew, and Rossi treasures every moment with them.

“I love my job, but I enjoy time at home, too,” Rossi says. “My family is my greatest accomplishment. I’m like dad in that way, too. My family is the most important thing in my life.”
